Twilight (Pattern 03)
Installation view/ 7 positive films, 1 slide projector, 8 postcard-size c-prints(15x10 cm)/ Jun 2006

The installation consists of two parts: a projector (showing 7 images, each lasting 5 seconds) and a series of postcards placed at the entrance where the luminosity is decreased. The postcards show a sequence that goes from full color to a reduced/abstracted gray scale. The original image is a pornographic photograph of a woman in front of an artificial scene with a sunset background. The star elements from the postcard are repeated in the projected slides.

Through a process of relating the abstract projected image to the postcards, viewers relocate the meaning of the star symbol, giving it a figurative interpretation. The process also alters the viewer’s perception of the negative space between the stars in the installation.
