Touchdown
Mixed media/ Sep 2007

“Touchdown” is a project for an exhibition entitled Multiple Intimacy in Istanbul. After arriving the city, I asked a friend in London to ship a 50x30x20 cm box, which consists of a radio with its Antenna stretched. The radio was set at FM 106, a Turkish radio station and it was turned on, sealed and shipped from London where it could only catch noise. After arriving in Istanbul, it should be tuned up with local frequency and will be displayed without opening the box. In the end of show, it will be shipped back to London and lost its voice again. Viewers could only hear sound from outside the box.

Unfortunately, although it has “touch downed” in Istanbul, we lost the track of the box from 3rd September. Maybe it had been destroyed because of the noise or been kept in the storage room for further investigation. Hopefully, in the near future we could receive the package and send it back to where it came from in order to complete the project. In the end, the project was presented in the middle of the space with a A4 paper which describes what happen to this piece.
